I have an International 340 and would like to move mulch and topsoil with it. I was told the most cost effective method is to get a reversible scoop. Can some advise me on the type and size I would need, and if this is the most cost-effective method. The tractor does have a 3ph. Thanks

A dirt scoop is an economical way to move piled material if you don't have a front end loader. Also light excavation (such as stripping topsoil and turning out medium sized rocks). They are made by several companies, including King Kutter and Howse, usually in 24" or 30" widths. Cost is about $250. They also serve as a handy carry-all. I've used mine to move 18 tons of gravel in about 4 hours. I've attached a link to a picture of one on my little TC29.
I should add that I've managed to bend mine when trying to move buried rocks even with my TC; something as big as your 340 would probably damage the scoop pretty easily if you hit anything solid. But it would last forever on piled materials.

The dirt scoop is a real good inexpensive way to move loose material. The dirt scoop can be a very handy piece of equipment to have on your farm if you don't have a loader. I have the howse dirt pan in stock and I have a great price on them just drop me an email if you are interested

In my opinion, the bigger the better. Mine is 30" and I wish it were more.

I bought a Howse 30" Dirt Scoop from Todd-AgEquip. I have a JD950 with no front end loader. The amount of work that I can do as well as the amount of stuff that it can move with it is amazing. It cost less than 10% of the cost of a front end loader. I had to dig a trench around the back of my house and level off the land a bit since all of the snow melted and drained towards the house creating a nice little pond in my backyard. I dug a trench, put drainage pipe in it, fill it wil decorative stone, and it got rid of my water problem. I took a subsoiler and ripped the sod and dirt, then took the dirt scoop and scooped it up and moved it away. it was fast and I could never do that with a shovel. I wanted to go all the way around my house and build a moat, but that would be going too far? Give TODD-AgEquip a call. I ordered it from him and he had it shipped up to me in Massachusetts. He is a great guy to deal with and even emailed me later asking me how I liked it? he wnet above and beyond the call of duty to have it shipped up to me. Thanks again Todd. You will not regret buying a Dirt Scoop (it is reversible and not too heavy, but very sturdy and well built). ....
